Movement is a central part of our lives, whether you are a kid playing in the park or a professional athlete competing in a race, our goal is to empower you to explore your limits and redefine your boundaries. But we want to do this the right way, with the lowest possible environmental footprint. So, we invite you to embrace the Explorer Spirit to challenge the status quo and venture into the unknown.

#1 Future Technologies in Movement

Everyone’s feet are different and have different needs. One shoe does not fit all, neither maximum performance nor cushioning is made for everyone. How can we define the ideal movement technology and footwear of the future?

#2 Sustainable Running

Sustainable running is an integral approach to the environmental initiative. It starts from raw material sourcing, but it does not stop there. It extends to decisions impacting the supply chain and manufacturing practices. It questions microplastic emissions into immaculate places and highlights the need for political ecology. How to best respect nature and local communities when designing a running product and when running? How to balance the exigence of human exploration with nature preservation?

More than 99% of an athlete’s time is spent outside of racing. They spend an enormous amount of time training, and this is a large part of what makes them elite, but it puts a lot of stress on their bodies. So, they are constantly looking for ways that allow them to increase their training stimulus without accumulating more fatigue on their bodies and therefore potentially increasing their chance of injury. What are the possible solutions to help them optimize their training and recovery so that they maximize their race-day performance?

Children are not just small adults. They have a wide range of anthropometry, different movement patterns and they are growing and moving all the time. Can we create fun and purposeful solutions to ignite the explorer spirit in every child, encouraging movement and exploration in the world around them?

HOW DOES THE CHALLENGE WORK

On October 27, 2022, our kick-off event will take place. Torgether we will celebrate the start of our new challenge. You will learn everything about the challenge, get to know the mentors and meet other participants. In the days that follow, the project cologne team will be happy to help you find your topic, team and mentor.

In this phase you will gain a better understanding of the problem, analyze your target group, and gain insights into the market. In meetings you have the chance to get feedback from your mentors. We also provide you with our collection of Design Thinking tools.

Now it's all about being creative. During the Ideation-Phase you and your team use proven methods to come up with different ideas and solutions. Afterwards you will use various tools to boil them down to just one idea that you will continue with to the Prototyping-Phase.

In this phase, you and your team create a prototype, which you then test together with your target group. Early feedback is crucial for the later success, because at this stage adjustments can still be implemented quickly. A prototype does not have to be a physical product, but can also be a technical solution, a new process, or a service.

March 2023: Now it's time to impress your fellow competitors and more important: the jury. But don't worry, we will do our best to prepare you for what's to come. Before the final pitch you will recieve a coaching on how to present your business model and how to improve your performance on stage.
